It’s funny how time has changed since people thought more filled-out women were known as ‘beautiful.’ What happened to that? Some girl has a blog out there called “Only Pretty Girls are Skinny” or something like that who gives advice to other insecure girls with how to overcome hunger; adding photos of very skinny women. When I say skinny, I mean anorexic or bulimic. Extremely unhealthy skinny. That’s Pretty?

Take Marilyn Monroe for instance. Look at her. She is gorgeous. Omit her character, morals, or past. But look at her image for a second. Hey people, her thighs are touching and men found her sexy! It’s depressing to have to worry about how I look when I dress up or if I look like I’ve gained weight. It’s exhausting.

I went to a house party the other day and I swear I was the only girl who was wearing a jacket when probably about 10 girls are wearing tight dresses with four inch high-heels on. Oh did I forget to mention that its 35 degrees outside? Hey beauty must be painful ( for them at least). I asked some guys “Do guys really pay attention with what girls wear?”

“Absolutely! See the babe with the blue heals?” followed by a passionate sigh. Pathetic. That’s what I thought. I would like to point out that the right man wont be looking at what you’re wearing ladies. Men, correct me if I am wrong, but if a man is interested in a girl he wont take notice to how high her heels are or how skinny she is. If he likes you, he likes you.

Little girl twenty one the things that you’ve already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but He’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well, little girl twenty one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And He’ll treat you like the jewel you are

I heard a song on the radio that really touched home for me. It’s called a More beautiful You by Johnny Diaz.

“Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn’t straight, her body isn’t fake
And she’s always felt overweight

Well, little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care, your skin, your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are.”

Perfect just the way they are…  We shouldn’t worry about our legs being as skinny as our arms. If you want to lose

weight, that’s great! but in a healthy way. What women don’t take notice in is they don’t need to starve themselves to loose 5 pounds. Counting points, calories, cookies you ate in a week, how many miles you ran/walked is exhausting! Don’t look at girls who have a tiny waste with big boobs on facebook. They are not you and they have problems too.

Nobody is perfect; try to remember that the next time you’re flipping though some girls facebook from your high school, sorority, or that rich girl on the block.

Always remember beauty is within. Losing weight is possible but only the healthy way; there is no other way. So don’t deprive yourself with only two cookies or having to run extra miles just so you can be skinny because you think that’s they only way people will find you beautiful. All I can hope for, if anybody reads this, is to think that others do think you’re beautiful… you should too.
